CLETUS LEARNS ABOUT MONEY FROM THE GOODIE GREENBACKS

With my new job as a steamboat captain, I decided it’s time I learn how to handle my money. My friends, the Goodie Greenbacks, are the best ones to teach me. They taught me some valuable lessons on what I need to do and I am so grateful!

SEEK GOD’S WILL IN ALL MATTERS

SEEK GOD’S WILL IN ALL MATTERS. When you really want something, instead of just buying it, ask God. Pray about it, then make your descision based on the wisdom God has given you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

GIVE FIRST TO THE LORD

GIVE FIRST TO THE LORD. God made everything, so everything is God’s. Even us. We are God’s creation. We are thankful that God created everything. God has given us so much that we want to give back to God, too.

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38

BE HONEST

BE HONEST. With anything you do…be honest. Even when wanting a new toy or electronic device, ask yourself if this is something you really need that can be put to good use. If the answer is no, then you might want to wait or rethink that purchase.

For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man. 2 Corinthians 8:21

SEEK WISDOM

SEEK WISDOM. When you have money it very important that you learn how to handle it. Seek someone who is very wise and experienced on what to do with money and have then teach you. One of the best classes to take as you are in High School and up, is the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Universtiy coarse. Keep learning because the younger you start to more successful you’ll be in money management!!

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, Proverbs 3:13

PROVIDE FOR YOUR FAMILY

PROVIDE FOR YOUR FAMILY. The bible teaches us to love one another. This means that we care and provide for each other.

But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8

DON’T BUY THINGS YOU CAN’T AFFORD

DON’T BUY THINGS YOU CAN’T AFFORD. When you see something you really like and its more money than you have…do not try to buy it! Do not try to buy this on credit if you do not have the money in the bank. This instant gratification can lead people in to serious debt.

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5

VALUE & INVEST IN GOD’S KINGDOM

INVEST IN THE KINGDOM. When you have money, help others. There’s so many people in the world who would just love a hot meal, new clothes and even just a place to live! Give to others and share the love of God!!

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4

CHOOSE TO BE CONTENT

BE CONTENT.  When you give yourself to the Lord and your heart if full of love for others, something changes and you no longer want things of the world…you find peace and contentment.

Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8

DON’T COMPARE WHAT OTHER HAVE

DO NOT COMPARE TO OTHERS. Wanting what others have will make you unhappy. Each day wakeup and thank God for all He has done and give you. Being thankful through all matters will bring you joy!!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

RESPOND TO NEEDS & OPPORTUNITIES

RESPOND TO NEEDS & OPPORTUNITIES. When we see someone in need, step in faith and help them! Be the change you want to see in the world! God works through us to show love and spread His word.

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ Acts 20:35

SHARE WHAT YOU HAVE

SHARE WHAT YOU HAVE. Even if you don’t have much, you can still share with others. Giving comes from the heart and we want to have a heart like Christ.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
